Selen Pehlivanoğlu obtained her Bachelor's degree in the Maastricht Science Programme at Maastricht University, where she specialized in molecular and cellular biology. During her bachelor's thesis in the De Windt Lab, she investigated the role of non-coding RNAs in cardiomyocyte proliferation and cardiac regeneration to identify novel RNA-based therapeutic candidates.
She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences at KU Leuven. Alongside her master's studies, she rejoined the De Windt Lab as a research intern, where she continues her work on RNA-mediated regulation of cardiac regeneration. Her current research focuses on the identification and characterization of non-coding RNAs that promote cardiomyocyte proliferation and explores their therapeutic potential for heart regeneration. In addition to her primary research project, Selen contributes to several ongoing projects within the laboratory through bioinformatics analyses and computational support.
